Police van chase okada rider & his passengers to their deaths(PHOTOS)

An Okada rider and his 2 male passengers were crushed to death this afternoon at Awoyaya bus-stop  along the Lekki-Epe Express way in Lagos as they were being chased by a police van.

While trying to escape from the police who were chasing them to seize their bike for riding on the express, the Okada, which was in high speed, collided with a BRT bus that crushed them to death.

According to an eye-witness, area boys gathered and burnt the police van. The army had to be brought in to calm the situation. See photos from the incident after the cut.. *warning - graphic content*

National Conference: Nigeria to create 18 new states, and a new National anthem

Due to recommendations made by delegates at the National Conference, Nigeria may soon have 18 additional states. This means that in addition to the pre-existing 36 states, the country would have 54 states in total.
The confab voted for the creation of the new states on Thursday, Punch reports.
The new states proposed are:

Ijebu, from Ogun State; Aba, to be carved out of the current Abia State; Katagum, from Bauchi State; Amana, from former Sardauna Province; Apa, from Benue State; Anioma, from Delta State, Savannah, from Borno State; and Etiti, from South-East.

Njaba/Anim, from Anambra and Imo states; Gurara, from Kaduna State; Ghari, from Kano State; Adada, New Oyo from Oyo State; Orachi, from Rivers State; Ogoja, from Cross River State; and Kainji, from Kebbi and Niger states.

Two additional states, one each from the South-West and South-East and zones, are yet to be named.

Ebola Virus Claims 400 Lives in 4 Months in Guinea, Liberia & Sierra Leone

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), out of the 759 cases of the Ebola Virus reported in Guinea, Liberia & Sierra Leone, 400 people have died.

These statistics were compiled from March, when the outbreak started, to June 30th, CNN reports.

According to reports, the virus can kill up to 90% of those infected.

Speaking about the outbreak, Peter Piot, the scientist credited with making the first discovery of the Ebola virus in the 1970s, said:

“One, [this is] the first time in West Africa that we have such an outbreak. Secondly, it is the first time that three countries are involved. And thirdly it’s the first time that we have outbreaks in capitals, in capital cities.”

African ministers and health experts are said to be meeting in Ghana to discuss strategies on how to stop the virus from spreading.

Kefee to be buried in Sapele on Friday, July 11,

The remains of the late Pop-Gospel singer, Kefee (Irikefe Don-Momoh nee Obareki), will be laid to rest on Friday, July 11th in her hometown of Okpara-Inland, Ethiope East LGA of Delta State.
A statement released by her publicist today states that Kefee’s husband, Teddy Don-Momoh, who has been making arrangements to bring her body back from the U.S., will arrive the country first to receive her body before taking her down to Delta State for burial.

Teddy had earlier indicated that his wife’s family had requested that she be buried in their hometown, with a celebratory service in Sapele afterwards and he was comfortable with the arrangement.
