Nigeria wins first gold in Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

Nigerian weightlifter Chika Amalaha has given Nigeria its first gold at the Commonwealth Games which started in Glasgow, Scotland yesterday July 24th.

Chika won the gold medal today after pulling a total of 196 points in snatch and clean and jerk in the 53kg class to beat her competitors from New Guinea & India who picked the silver & bronze medals.

Shocking: Chinese Man found out he was a woman at 44-year-old

A Chinese man who rushed to the hospital because he was experiencing stomach aches and blood in his urine was stunned  to discover that he was a woman on his period.

According to Shagalist.com,the married 44-year-old man from Zhejiang province, China, visited his local doctor with his wife in Yongkang where he made the shocking discovery that he had, all along, in fact been a woman.

After a full examination, doctors discovered that he had a full set of female reproductive organs along with a penis - which he said had given him an active sex life with his wife of ten years.A spokesman for First People’s Hospital of Yongkang said ..

 ‘He was wearing men's clothes with short hair, so we didn’t think that he would be a female at the beginning’.However, Mr Chen said that he had known that something was wrong with him after he found himself constantly feeling fatigued with swollen face and legs.Even worse, he constantly found blood in his urine.

A CT scan soon revealed that he had a uterus and ovaries..Doctors said it was too late for Mr Chen to seek medical treatment for his unusual problem as it was only effective for younger people.

Nigeria's first Ebola Virus carrier reportedly dead in Lagos

The first known carrier of the deadly Ebola virus in Nigeria,Mr Patrick Sawyer is reported to have died. 40 year old Mr Sawyer, a WASH consultant at the Ministry of Finance, Liberia had been quarantined since falling ill after arriving in Lagos for a conference last Sunday.

According to Front page Africa, A Liberian government official, speaking on condition of anonymity said the news of Sawyer's death was relayed to Liberia by the Nigerian embassy, early Friday morning.

A Christian man in Iran was sentenced to have his lips burnt with a cigarette for eating during the day in the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The shocking punishment  carried out in public  in the city of Kermanshah after he received 70 lashes alongside five other Muslim men for not fasting during Ramadan.The punishment was confirmed by the city's deputy governor Ali Ashraf Karami.The National Council of Resistance of Iran, denounced the treatment as 'savage' and called on western countries to take action.

63 women escape Boko Haram camp

Sixty-three women abducted by Bokoharam from Kummabza village in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State two weeks ago have escaped from their kidnappers.
The Federal Government denied the abduction but the Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, set up an inquiry into the kidnap.

However, security sources and eyewitnesses told journalists that 63 out of the 70 abducted women had escaped from captivity and made their way back home.

End Boko Haram Now…Islamic Group Tells Sultan, Muslim Leaders

An Islamic group known as the Concerned Muslim Professionals, CMP, yesterday called on the Sultan of Sokoto and the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, to call the leader of the boko haram sect for discussions.

The group said the insurgency persisted because of the failure of Muslim leaders to intervene, insisting several members of the sect would have laid down their arms and many wouldn’t have joined the erroneous sect, if the Muslim leaders in Nigeria had engaged the sect for discussions. The group also says it is regrettable that the activities of the sect had become a great embarrassment to the Islamic faith.
