Woman (28) uses fake baby bump to smuggle 2 kilos of cocaine (LOOK)

According reports by AFP, a Toronto woman who used a fake baby bump to try to smuggle two kilograms of cocaine was arrested yesterday September 11th at Bogota airport by Colombian police.

28-year-old Tabitha Leah Ritchie, identified as a social worker, was stopped while trying to board an Air Canada flight in Bogota, Colombia after an inspector noticed that her belly was unusually cold and hard. Airport security discovered a false belly made of latex taped to her body and they found 2 kilograms of cocaine. Record shows that Ms Richie arrived in Colombia on Aug. 6.

APC chides FG over persisting ASUU strike

THE All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday lamented the inability of the Federal Government to end the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that has paralysed academic work in public universities in the country for the third month running.

   In a statement issued in Abuja by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party chided the Federal Government for what it described as insincere and amateurish handling of the strike and said “the tepid and half-hearted way the government has handled the strike has shown that it does not place much premium on education, which is the path to national development.”

Mother, son clash over sale of family house

The buildingA 44-year-old man, Ikechukwu Ozichukwu, and his mother, Mrs. Comfort Ebubechukwu, are locked in battle over the sale of one of the family’s houses.

The building, a semi-detached duplex located on 21 Road, H Close, FESTAC, Lagos State, was allegedly sold in January 2013 while Ozichukwu was still living there with his wife and two children.

It was learnt that Ozichukwu’s mother allegedly sold the house for N27m. Another property was subsequently purchased at the Satellite Town area in the name of his younger brother who lived in the United States.
PUNCH Metro gathered that it was when the new buyer wanted to move into the house that Ozichukwu knew that the house no longer belonged to the family.

Islamic group wins: Miss World pageant moved out of Jakarta to Bali

Days after an Islamic group staged a protest against the organizers of the 2013 Miss World pageant, demanding that the pageant should not be held in Jakarta as it runs against their culture, the pageant organizers have been forced to move the final of the pageant to Bali - where they said today that it would be 'impossible' to stage the finale there, because of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, where world leaders and thousands of officials are expected to attend. The summit begins at the beginning of October while the pageant is scheduled to take place on September 28.

40 year-old bicycle Dealer Ingests 1.7 kg Heroine

A 40 year-old bicycle parts dealer has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) with 1.700kg of heroin.

The suspect, Nweke Livinus Uchenna whose journey originated from Pakistan was found to have ingested narcotics during routine search of passengers on Etihad flight at the arrival hall of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos.
