The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, doesn't seem to give a damn about resolutions of the Senate and the House of Reps on the crisis rocking Rivers State.
Probably speaking the mind of President Goodluck Jonathan, IG Abubakar, while emerging from Aso Rock on Thursday, told journalist point blank that the controversial Police Commissioner in Rivers State, Mr Mbu Joseph Mbu remains in charge, despite series of requests for his redeployment.
Insisting that Mbu has been charged to continue doing his work, the IG said:
“We are not politicians; we cannot be brought into the politics of this country. Professional police officers are supposed to do what they are supposed to do to protect lives and property and that is why we remain where we are.
And we charge the commissioner of police to be a professional police officer, providing safety and security for the good people and development of Rivers State.”
So, is it that the National Assembly is too small to pass a resolution for the IG to obey or what?
