Is the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar taking sides with the Presidency against Governor Rotimi Amaechi or what? Despite persistent calls by the governor and a strongly worded resolution by the National Assembly that the Police Commissioner in Rivers be redeployed by the IG, nothing has happened and the man his still in office.
Now to the shocker! IG Abubakar stormed Port Harcourt on Monday for a function without even looking at Rivers State government house not to talk of paying Governor Amaechi a courtesy visit.
The IG was in the state to inaugurate 100 Prado Sports Utility Vans donated to the nine Niger Delta state Police commands by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
He landed in Port Harcourt, went straight to the venue, commissioned the vehicles and left as if Rivers State no longer has a Chief Security Officer, in the person of Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
A top official in Rivers State disclosed that this is not the first time the IG would ignore Amaechi while in the state. He said the IG was in the state few months ago but also did not pay Amaechi a courtesy visit.
